Driving down to the beach for a late Sunday walk, and the ABC news comes over the radio... Journalist and father of two, Matt Price has died aged 46.

It is a terribly sad loss for his family and the media world. A brilliant and witty journalist who wrote on all types of topics including politics, sport and music, Price was one of those journo's that cut straight through with a larrikin style.

Tributes have flowed in from across the political divide and across the media lines, showing the enormous respect that Price earned over the years.

Diagnosed with brain tumours in September, Price wrote to colleagues in early October “We are entering a long, dark tunnel with no guarantees. Still, if hope, prayers, friends and thoughts count for anything, I’m off to a good start.”
