Peats Ridge Festival Cancelled

This year's every popular Peats Ridge Festival has been cancelled.

Announcing it on the Peats Ridge Festival website, the sustainable music festival stated that "it is with the greatest regret that we have to announce the cancellation of this year's Peats Ridge Festival".

It goes on to explain that "the highest December rainfall on record, coupled with six months of extremely wet weather has resulted in ground conditions that make it impossible for the Festival to proceed.

"Although the team has done everything in its power to deliver the Festival, at the end of the day the wellbeing of our patrons must come first. In the interests of public safety the organisers and venue owner have had to make this extremely difficult decision."

According to locals, a nearby dam has broken its banks, making the location of the festival a danger to patrons.

The festival which began in 2004 is situated in the Glenworth Valley just by the Popran River only an hour north of Sydney and is the first major music event in Australia to run on bio-diesel and renewable energy.

It is expected that the Peats Ridge Festival will refund all tickets.
